A confluence of Bengal and China, Bongnese is a new food paradise in the city of Joy. Hailing from the house of The Aananda Imperial at Bilaspur, the restaurant has a seating capacity for eighty, which also includes a private dining room named as ‘Anup’s Cabin’, in memoir of the actor from Bengal, Late Anup Kumar ji.
The restaurant aims in serving some long-lost recipes, dishes and delicacies from undivided Bengal, the erstwhile Colonian era, as well as some Anglo-Indianized Chinese food. Celebrated artists and distinguished guests came along for a friendly conversation over food, discussing the importance of Hilsha and other long-lost food of the previous generations.
Embracing the monsoons, which is probably regarded as one of the favourites of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, a special food festival called as ‘Ilish, Smriti’r Pat-e’ from the 9th of August, 2019 on ala-carte basis. The conversation was accompanied with music and dance and complemented with mouthwatering food, mostly featuring the hidden treasures of undivided Bengal.
